We sell these Large Dubia Roaches by weight and not length and count. The average count is 2 roaches per gram, so 25 grams is about 50 roaches, 50 grams is about 100, and so on.
Dubia roaches cost less by weight versus exact sizes and counts because it takes far less time to process them for shipping. This saves time and money, and we pass along the savings to customers. This is true for all the Dubia roaches we offer by weight, which includes Small, Medium, and Extra-large sizes as well as large.
We recommend buying Dubia roaches by weight when animals can manage a slightly greater size range, or if there are multiple animals. This is the best value, measured in roaches per dollar. Of course, we also have precisely sized roaches available for animals that need them.
Our Large nymphs are generally between ¾ and 1-inch in length, making them a great choice for many of the most widely kept exotic animals. ¾-inch Dubia roaches are often feeders for medium or large bearded dragons, chameleons, most geckos and tarantulas, and more. 1-inch Dubia roaches are often fed to younger animals of a larger species, like small tegu and young monitors, and even many birds and fish!
Large Dubia Roaches Sizing Notes
We weigh orders at the time of shipment. Size and weight at the time of arrival may vary according to roach hydration and feeding status, which varies by time in transit and temperature. Dehydrated roaches are flatter and shorter than normal. Always feed your Dubia when they arrive. You may also want to put them in a warm, dark place to recover. As they recover, they will regain their health and their typically plump appearance. This usually doesn’t take more than a day or two, given ideal conditions.
