Product Details
½-inch Dubia roaches are tasty, nutrient-dense primary feeders. They are a suitable size for many captive reptiles, amphibians, arachnids, fish, birds, and other animals. These include small to medium chameleons, geckos, bearded dragons, frogs, and fish. Due to their suitability for so many different animals, they are one of our most popular sizes.
- Roaches are approximately a half inch in length
- Commonly fed to small to medium insectivores
- Sorted and selected for size by hand
- Clean, quiet, odorless, and super-nutritious compared to other feeder insects
- Available in regular and organic
In-depth information
½-inch Dubia roaches are only six to eight weeks old, but in this time, they’ve increased their weight tenfold. While impressive, they’re still a long way from maturity. A half-inch is far from their final adult size. All this has important implications for their role as feeders.
First, they are soft-bodied. A soft body means easier digestion compared to larger roaches and other feeder insects. Better digestibility means more nutrition for the animals that eat them. People often report that their animals eat fewer Dubia roaches than other feeder insects. We’ve had this experience too. More nutrition per ounce may cause animals to become full faster because they get the nutrients they need sooner.
Second, ½-inch Dubia roaches are great for gut loading. They eat a lot relative to their body size. And because they’re fast-growing, they self-select for certain nutrients. Healthy nutrients. The nutrients prey animals need. You can offer these Dubia roaches whole foods, and they will pass that nutrition to your animal(s) when eaten.
Gutloadability is one reason why Dubia roaches are particularly good for fast-growing insectivores. They provide a lot of easily accessible nutrition, and animals tend to love eating them. Their large appetite for healthy foods makes gut loading easy and more beneficial. What could be better than a nutritious primary feeder with a big appetite for the nutrients prey animals need to grow healthy and strong?
Having said all this, we understand if these details are tedious and you only care about getting the best feeders possible. No problem! We worry about these things so that you don’t have to. Just choose the right size Dubia for your animal(s), and you’re all set.
Item specific sizing notes
- ½-inch is one of our most popular sizes because it’s a good size for many animals. These include small bearded dragons, small to medium chameleons, small tarantulas and pixie frogs, and many others.
- We select these for size, but some variation is normal. Their size will vary by hydration and feeding status, which can change due to transit time and conditions
- You can increase or decrease their size by adjusting their food and water intake.
- To help them recover from the stress of shipping, we recommend feeding them when they arrive.
- Place them in a dark, warm place unless you plan on feeding them off to your animals right away. Providing moisture-rich foods will help plump them up before feeding.
- Store your Dubia feeders at room temperature to maintain their size or above 80°F if you want them to grow.

I recently ordered dubia roaches from Dubia Depot for my bearded dragon, and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase! The roaches arrived quickly and were packaged securely, ensuring they all arrived alive and healthy. My beardie absolutely loves these roaches! They’re a good size, active, and full of nutrition. It’s like a feeding frenzy every time I offer them – not a single roach is safe! I’ll definitely be ordering from Dubia Depot again. Highly recommend their dubia roaches to anyone looking for a high-quality feeder insect for their reptiles.
Scott
Shipping was quick and packaged well. Way better quality and better price than the local pet store.
Amy
I have ordered from Dubia Roach Depot off and on for years. I only want to order from them. The roaches are very healthy. You can tell the care they receive from the beginning is why they are so healthy. I found my place to always order from. I suggest them to anyone. If anyone asks I tell them exactly where I order from.!!!

Shipping was very quick, packaged well and they were alive! My daughter’s leopard gecko loves them!

Healthy, live and ready to be devoured!

The dubia roaches came fast and packaged in a nice little temporary home (clear plastic container with a partial egg carton) that I used for a week before all the roaches got fed to my pets. Will order again, thanks!
SHAYNE T.
These guys all arrived alive and our beardie Rosie loved them!
Justin G.
First order of dubia roaches received. Bearded Dragon loved them, they do NOT smell, they live longer than crickets (I’d guess 95/100 lived until they were eaten) and they don’t jump. Or move particularly fast. Consider me a convert.
Harley
10/10! My boy absolutely loved these! He went from a picky eater who ate every 2-3 day to eating every day! I highly recommend them and the roaches arrived live and well!
Emily
Great prices!

Cheryl M.
Best place to get Dubai roaches hands down! They are a very reasonable price and rarely are any of them dead upon arrival. I tell everyone to buy from them.
Alie
Honestly these are the best Dubia’s I’ve found! I use to purchase from my local pet store but every time half the Dubia’s were dead. Since switching to here (2 orders so far) I haven’t had a single issue with them! Plus my frog is super excited about them.
Megan G.
Delivered quickly and my leopard gecko loved them! Set up an autoshipment so we can stay stocked!
Lindsay W.
Roaches arrived when I was out of town and my husband never opened the package. When I got home 2 days later there was only one casualty in the container!
Our bearded dragon baby says 10/10 highly recommend!
Jason S.
They are smaller than I expected but was totally my fault. They delivered exactly what I ordered and not a single one lost. Next time I will be ordering the largest ones
Lindsey
This was my first time buying dubia roaches for our dragon so I wasn’t sure what to expect. These by far exceeded my expectations!! Will be placing bulk orders!!
Cat
I was wasting my money buying “small” dubias locally for 25 cents EACH when they were mostly .25″ and smaller! But the Mediums at my store were too big for my gecko. 0.5″ is exactly the size I’ve always wanted and this was MUCH cheaper! I ordered 100 of them at 4pm EST on a Tuesday with the cheapest shipping and they crossed the entire country to arrive here at 11am that same Thursday with only 2 dead in the cup. That’s a better mortality rate than when I’d open the cup the next day on local nymphs! Whatever they’re doing for their roaches here, it’s obviously the RIGHT thing! I was blown away
Gretchen
I’ve received two orders of Dubia Roaches so far and have been very happy with my experience. Good price, fast shipping, and quality product. A few roaches were dead upon arrival, but less than 5, and the others were very healthy, despite freezing cold temps outside.
Gina
Wow!! Arrived in 2 days! The roaches are just as described, packed nicely and shipping was quick. I’m very impressed. Thank you!
Helen
BEST roaches! My beardie loves them.
Kris
Awesome! Thanks!
Niko
It’s always nerve-wracking ordering ordering dubias during the winter, but I’m happy to say that even in slightly below freezing weather, all the little guys arrived safe and sound! They only needed to be warmed up a bit before they were wandering around. My leo and I thank you for the speedy delivery and perfectly sized nymphs!
Clois M.
Fast delivery, healthy dubias, couldn’t ask for more. My Beardie thanks you🙂
Alex
My order shipped fast and the price was right.
Adrian M.
Well, I had completely forgotten that these were on their way. So the box on my doorstep was a pleasant accidentally made surprise. Opened it up, all the dubias are in great condition. I was a bit worried that my t’s wouldn’t take to them but 6 out of the 7 have eaten within minutes so…I’m more than satisfied. 10/10 would get again.
Caroline
This website has the best selection, sizing, information, the fastest shipping, and the healthiest dubia roaches of all the website I’ve bought them from. Dubia Roach Depot is my hands-down favorite. I only buy Dubia roaches from other websites when they’re out of stock here.
